Valentine Look: Red Hot Midi Dress

red dress elegant date look

All through December I was confused about what look I'd blog for Christmas. As much as I love the idea of red, I could somehow never get myself to go ahead and wear the colour with confidence. The max I've ever flaunted the colour is a peplum worn with enough black and tan elements. Although I never got around to managing a Christmas blog post due to some medical emergency, I did post a picture on my Instagram of a green outfit. Yes, green but why not red, I have no idea...

A few weeks ago I was browsing through the collection at Westside Stores determined to shop well given their excellent sale. I came across this dress from their WARDROBE collection at a flat 50% off. The final price was somewhere around Rs. 700 ONLY! Forgetting all about the colour inhibition I tried it on and was really happy with the overall look and fit. The brilliant quality of the fabric deserves a special mention. Also, the timing seemed perfect given that Valentine's Day was approaching..

Although it was a sleeveless dress and I had no idea how I would pair it, I went ahead and bought it.(As usual.) Speaking of the length, I was really unsure of how I'd pull it off. Should I have gotten it reduced to just above my knees? I decided to keep the dress as is and experiment...None of my jackets and cover ups seemed to pair well with the dress. I'd picked up this light golden fabric a while ago with the intention of getting something stitched. That never did happen cuz I've been swamped with work and also cuz I'm lazy.

I loved how draping the fabric around gave a classy appearance and also helped in covering up my arms. Worn with these light golden heels, the length of the dress too seemed to work for me. As for the accessories, I wore a pair or statement ear-rings and a thin layered chain. For a change I decided to not leave my hair open...I've been trying to experiment with basic make-up and the MAC Ruby Woo made for the perfect shade with this dress. This would be my look for a nice Valentine date...And now that I've worn the dress as is I'm definitely going to experiment a bit with it.

Until then, here's wishing you guys lots of love... M!
