One Maxi Skirt x 3 Style Ideas

My love for maxi dresses and skirts is no secret now; neither is my hoarding ability! I picked up this orange beauty from Splash in Phoenix, Pune. (Yes, yet another maxi skirt.) The gorgeous colour was what had me fall in love. Plus, Splash never disappoints me in terms of size availability.

For this post I wanted to do something different given that I've already done a maxi skirt look before. (You can read it here.) I love my blacks but have no qualms sporting a neon piece of clothing and am always looking for ways to flaunt this orange beauty. From an ethnic to something more brunch appropriate and a look that's casual yet chic, here are 3 different ways to style one skirt.

I've worn the skirt with this black crop top and chunky accessories for an evening out. When looking at a funky way to give it an ethnic touch, I paired it with this lovely yellow net dupatta and was very pleased with the look. I love how the yellow and orange look more put together and balanced by the black. I'd wear this outfit for a simple day-time function if I was looking for something different over the usual kurta. As for the accessories, I added a gold neckpiece, a hand harness and a clutch that are neither too ethnic nor too junk-like for this look.

My second look has more of a brunch feel to it. Given that I work from home, I like dressing up when I'm stepping out. The usual denims and top is of course my go-to for a coffee or chill time with friends. But when I'm heading out to a nice place or have elaborate lunch plans, I like wearing a dress or a skirt. I paired the maxi with this nautical top from Mango and my MK tote and loved the overall feel. Now, we've all heard of how girls with my body type should avoid horizontal stripes. In my case, I love anything nautical and the top had the word SNOB on it. How was I supposed to not buy it?! For this look I opted for orange ear-rings to match my skirt and add some colour and skipped the neckpiece.

With the third look I was aiming for something with a very casual vibe. T-shirts are just not my thing. Also, the closest I've ever come to wearing short sleeves is this simple top I got from Pantaloon, Pune. Not only did I like the colour but I absolutely adore the detailing on the neck-line; no need for a neckpiece. I've always loved how orange and grey look together and luckily found this casual top in the exact colour I'd wanted. To add some edge to the outfit, I wore these Mawi x Koovs earrings, a simple watch and metallic sneakers; nothing chunky.

Which is your favourite look amongst the 3? What kind of maxi skirt looks do you experiment with? Do you love neon pieces of clothing?
Let me know in the comments section below. Love - M!
