Resort & Swimwear with a Twist Ft. Loco

Given that I cannot really swim, I've hardly ever looked at size 16 swimwear options available. Even when it comes to resort-wear, I've only got a couple of the usual floral and lace options. So when I was approached by Loco to check out their latest collection, it was quite exciting!

Pune-based, Loco is a high-end and bespoke label that's all about experimental fashion and basically letting one's crazy side off the leash. What caught my attention instantly when I saw the collection was how simple and modest the silhouettes were. Moreover, the swimwear hardly looked like swimwear...In fact, I entered the pool and spent some time in there to get a real feel of Loco swimwear. Everything the designer, Nikita Kamat, explained about the fabric used made sense. The outfits were a dream creation for any plus-size water baby.

The first option I picked was a cross over, wine-black one-piece with see-through detailing. In addition to the colour combination, it was the see-through detailing that totally stole my heart. Such a perfect tease! I teamed the outfit with a Loco black lace cover-up that had faux leather fringes and metallic zipper detailing. This cover-up too was love at first sight. It may be extremely different from my personal style, but once in a while I do enjoy adding that little edge to an outfit and this piece would be a perfect pick to strike a balance.

The second outfit again was a super funky creation with a button-down navy shirt and coral shorts with navy lace detailing. Where's the twist? Well, it was a shirt monokini, a one-piece! I loved the little hint of sexiness that can be added with leaving the shirt unbuttoned and of course the gorgeous coral colour.

Speaking of the resort-wear, I teamed Loco's simple teal green blouse with a high-slit maxi skirt. The blouse has metallic detailing and leather elbow patches with a slit! What a different yet chic take on resort-appropriate ensembles...Apart from the uniqueness, creativity and colours, what I truly loved about Loco creations is how each piece made me feel. I had nothing to be conscious of and in fact felt extremely confident and sexy walking to and around the pool and while in the water as well. I'm really delighted to be associated with a designer whose tagline says it's okay to be crazy and who aims at bringing about a change in the swimwear industry in India!

P.S. Loco pieces can be worn as chic outfits even when you're not going swimming. I teamed the wine-black one-piece with a pair of black shorts to chill with my friends at our hotel during a trip to Mahabaleshwar and then simply got out of the shorts before entering the pool. :D
